Food brings people together. No matter the culture, food is used to celebrate any occasion in life. The Saffron Smoothie is a family owned and operated company whose main goal is to spread joy through food. The events of 2020 created an opportunity to share and experience food in new and innovative ways. We challenged ourselves to create a company that met the needs of our clients who suddenly found themselves cooking at home more often, becoming virtual meeting pros and missing social interactions. We provide culinary based social events that fosters creativity through learning and exploring new dishes and restaurants throughout the community. The Saffron Smoothie works with chefs and small business across the country to bring you unforgettable social culinary experiences.

LaToya “Chef Toya” Robles created the Saffron Smoothie shortly after opening her bakery in 2018. At that time it was just an idea on paper, then COVID hit and like all businesses, her bakery took a significant hit. After creating several Facebook live videos to help families with baking and cooking hacks, she received several requests for cooking classes and events. Seeing the impact on the restaurant industry, especially to her fellow chefs, the Saffron Smoothie was dusted off and brought to life.

As the CEO, Toya is responsible for executing the overall vision and mission of the company. Toya has been cooking all her life and comes from a family of chefs and cooks based in the Virgin Islands who worked in hotels, food trucks and food stands across the island. She received her culinary degree and training at TCC in Arlington, TX and owns and operates The Salted Crust bakery in Mansfield, TX.

Kisha Washington is an Advanced Certified Paralegal with over 20 years of experience in the legal field. Kisha has recently served as the president of the Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association and Secretary on the board of the Local Government Paralegal Association in Virginia. She is the mother of 3 wonderful children and enjoys crafts, baking, hanging out at the beach and a good Netflix binge.

As Director of Operations for the Saffron Smoothie, Kisha is responsible for the on-boarding process of our instructors and maintaining lasting relationships with our vendors and suppliers.
